The sustainable management of forests is one of our fundamental priorities. We consistently rely on solid wood that has been sustainably felled and source our fresh wood exclusively from the region, within a maximum radius of 50 kilometers. Thanks to our close cooperation with foresters, we can trace the origin of our wood 100%, which means that overuse, overexploitation and clear-cutting are ruled out. Our commitment to responsible forestry also includes ongoing reforestation in the forests from which our solid wood comes, to preserve the natural environment and protect it for future generations. We value the origin of the wood from the local region, strict compliance with national forestry laws and familiarity with our reliable suppliers. These aspects are more important to us than many existing certifications.
Our wood processing follows a sustainable approach, which includes careful storage and drying in an old granary over a long period of time. This environmentally friendly method enables the desired drying without the high energy consumption of industrial processes. Every solid wood board is a CO2 store, and our goal is to bind this CO2 in the long term. Thanks to first-class quality and professional wood processing, our products have a long service life, which benefits both you and the climate. The wood remains lively, responsive and robust. We rely 100% on solid wood, which can be easily repaired and is therefore extremely durable. In addition, solid wood is extremely reusable, which enables the production of new home accessories. Plastic veneers, wood fiber and chipboard and varnishes are not an option for us. Instead, we refine the surface of our home accessories with pure organic linseed oil. This oil gives the wood a subtle shine, emphasizes the natural wood structure and protects against moisture, stains and dirt without sealing the pores. The emphasis on sustainability shapes every step of our work. From our own drying
The fresh wood we use comes exclusively from the forests of Schleswig-Holstein, which we source within a 50 km radius of our production facility. The aim of this timber harvest was not the commercial overexploitation of resources, but rather sustainable forest management. Every home accessory is linked to a forest of origin in Schleswig Holstein, because we only use regional solid wood for our products. We also store the fresh wood in our own wood storage facility for many years. There it dries naturally until it reaches the ideal wood moisture content for further processing. In this way, we ensure the best quality and sustainability in each of our home accessories.
From ancient wooden buildings
There is still a lot of untapped potential in the sustainable use of solid wood. It is often burned prematurely, even though it has a long remaining lifespan and serves as a CO2 store.
